100 Great Videos ♫

In today's lesson we watched the 100 Great Videos of all time on MTV, so that we can find out what makes these videos the 'Greatest'. We found out a lot of interesting facts about each video which we may be able to use in our music videos. Each video was different and unusual in it's own way and I think that this is something that we need to be in our video!


On the 100th Position it was the 'Musical Youth' with Pass the Dutchie.

  • Musical Youth was the first black british 'teenagers'' band to be shown on MTV in 1982.
  • It was a successful hit winning Grammy awards.
  • It's about Poverty 
  • They Changed the lyrics from 'Kutchie' to 'Dutchie' which changed the meaning from weed to a 'Jamaican cooking pot'.




99th/'Super Grass' with 'Pumping on a Stereo'.
  • The use of puppets/cartoon is very interesting
  • Catchy/Unusual
  • Creativity


98th/Bronski Beat/Small Town Boy/1998

  • Gay men who came to London
  • Very first band to openly say they're gay
  • Conveying a personal story
  • telling the world about how it felt being abused on streets for being gay
  • Elton John married a woman to cover the fact he was gay.



97th/Cornershop/Brimful of Asha

  • about girl whose passion is music and loves dancing
  • Numerous views of 'Cornershop' withing this video - Interesting
  • MTV was forced to remove corner shop. 



96th/So Solid Crew/21 Seconds

  • Significant Video
  • Clever of how each artist was given 21 seconds to do their bit
  • Good use of lyrics
  • Consists of More than 20 south London Rappers




95th/ The Cardigans/My Favourite Game

  • Jonas Akerdund
  • About Love affairs/ falling in love
  • Car carshes - violent yet appealing.



94th/Bonnie Taylor/ Totally Eclipse of the Heart

  • Made by the first welsh artist

  • Almost like a film
  • Drug Related problems
