So! I know we've been changing our minds constantly about the music we want to use but it's the perfect research that makes the video successful no? xD
Well we've found a decent music by a British Asian Artist names Arjun, Me and my partner both liked the music a lot and this has even been approved by our teacher! All we're waiting on is the approval of the artist!

Music Consent Received :-) ! ♪

Firstly...YAAAY!

We have finally got our music consent from Kaution, the artist whose music we're likely to use...
He has emailed me saying:

100 Great Videos ♫

In today's lesson we watched the 100 Great Videos of all time on MTV, so that we can find out what makes these videos the 'Greatest'. We found out a lot of interesting facts about each video which we may be able to use in our music videos. Each video was different and unusual in it's own way and I think that this is something that we need to be in our video!


On the 100th Position it was the 'Musical Youth' with Pass the Dutchie.

• Musical Youth was the first black british 'teenagers'' band to be shown on MTV in 1982.
• It was a successful hit winning Grammy awards.
• It's about Poverty 
• They Changed the lyrics from 'Kutchie' to 'Dutchie' which changed the meaning from weed to a 'Jamaican cooking pot'.

Preliminary Exercise! ♫

Like last year with our thrillers, a preliminary exercise is needed for our A2 course. Yesterday we done a quick preliminary exercise where we were given a piece of music, we had the choice to choose our temporary group. In our group there was me, my partner Tomi and another member Daniel.  Our task was to shoot a video of 2 people looking in love and singing, It was me and Tomi that were acting and we had to learn of the lyrics and sing out loud so it looks realistic! It was way too crazy as we can't sing to save our lives! It sounded terrible but at the end of the day it was only done so that we can put the actual song after deleting the original audio so it looks like we're singing. Daniel was our director and he did do a good job of directing us! We are just in the proccess of editing it and then we'll be able to post it here! To be honest I thought Acting was an easy job, was only yesterday i found out how hard it is to bring in the right emotion at the right time. So glad I didn't do drama!

Case Study 09/09/2011..♪♪

We also done a Case Study based on Jamie Thraves in our lesson. And we found out quite a lot about him and who is he?.

Jamie Thraves:

• Is a Director
• Made Short films at university
• Used award winning short films as a 'Calling Card' to get a 'Foot in the door' with the video production company Factory films.
• Began by shooting three very low budget music videos- costs about £5,000

This is how the process works:

• A 'Commissioner' from a record label sends a track 5-10 directors.
• The directors then each submit a treatment .
• This stage is unpaid
• The director who has submitted the 'best treatment' is then comissioned to mak the video
• Only then the director is paid.

As can be seen for many directors in the business it is precarious existence where their livelihood is dependent on each comission.
Jamie Thraves submitted treatments for his two known videos and each was accepted.

1. Radiohead - Just

• This had a budget of £100,000
• and was Shot in 3 days.

2. Cold Play- The Scientist

• This one had a budget of £200,000
• and it was also shot in 3 days.

• Currently videos costs about £20,000
• Shooting Time - 2days
• Jamie has used the music videos to get in the film buisness.
• Has so far shot three features:- THE LOW DOWN, THE CRY OF THE OWL and TREACLE JUNIOR.

- Use the lyrics but try not to be too literal
-Most importantly go with the emotion of the lyrics.

Today's Lesson 9/09/2011 - Music Video Purpose & Success Criteria♫

In today's lesson we discussed of what makes a music video succesful and we also looked at a few different videos that were once a hit or still is. We looked at all the different features used in there and discussed about why this was a success.

The First music video we looked at was  'Once in a Lifetime' by Talking Heads, This music video was very different and unique, I personally didn't like the song as much but what's catchy is the music video. As I've already mentioned this was a totally unique video as I have never seen something like that. It was simple but what was interesting was the use of bluescreens,the different style of dance and the amounts of different shots.



Secondly...

We discussed the purpose of a Music Video? and this is what we got...

Back Up Plan?.. ♫

Its been 24hours yet we haven't received anything yet from Kaution himself regarding the consent to use his music however Since we haven't got consent from Our Teachers either it would be pretty useless to carry on. I have therefore decided to keep a back up plan just incase our choice of music backfires for any reason. I am currently asking around facebook, having conversation with friends to see if they know such Unsigned Artist we're looking for...

I have emailed some Unsigned Artists Recommended by DJ's and just waiting for a reply!

Consent Awaits... Tick Tock ♫

Well well well now that the music's been approved from by my partner, I have emailed Kaution, the unsigned artist and all we're waiting for is the Consent for us to get to some Action! Excited? YES!

The Perfect Music? Lalalala ;-) ♫

Like i've already mentioned as our music is not long enough, After going through various music videos of unsigned artist on Youtube and talking to my friends who are unsigned artists too, I have finally found the PERFECT MUSIC!
It was really hard to find music that we like as well as the lyrics as most unsigned artist these days are into fast music and rapping and the I found had a very nice music, and meaningful lyrics. You could almost picture your video of what you want as it plays...
Kaution is a British Asian unsigned artist, his passion is music and this is what he shares with us on youtube!




I've just showed this music video to my Partner Tomi and she seems very impressed and excited! Honestly speaking, I feel that this is a good piece of music therefore we need to obtain the artist's consent as soon as possible to be able to shoot our video!

Our First Music Choice Research! ♫

Like I said, Since I was away my colleague Tomi has kindly found one piece of music with my consent and also obtained consent from the unsigned artist! And this is the research,

Today I've been looking on websites like 'www.unsigned.com' to find music because for my coursework i need to make a music video for a song that consists of No Rap, No Swearing,  No Offensive Lyrics and I've been listening to music that are easy to make a music video to, I'm looking at unsigned artist because its easier to find good music that i can/may use to make a music video for with breaking the copy right law

Unsigned is a website that allows people with a dream of becoming a famous music artist to put there music of all genres on the website in hope that they get signed by a record producer.

So far i have identified that most of the artist in this unsigned are based in America, but my aim is to find an British artist because British artist are making it global so far and i want my music video to promote them, if that's possible. I'm now looking at another website 'www.soundtrack.com' in this website there are a lot of English artist who's music convey the social realism through music.

i have also used my blackberry messenger to inform my peers about my latest task and have asked for their help to see if they know of any unsigned artist that aspire to be an musician and would give me permission to create a music video for it.
So far i have found a couple of aspiring artist that i may be able to use for my music video but i wasn't able to find an e-mail address that would able me to contact them so i had to improve and contact them on twitter using my phone

Back From Holiday! ☀♫

Hello Hello! :')
Well since i have been on holiday abroad i havent been able to upload my blog as it was hard to get internet connection in a little island like Mauritius! But But  But That doesn't mean I haven't thought of what i would like to do for my music video! My Partner of my team has kindly found music for which she has researched a lot for and therefore I would put these researches up! After reading all her researches, Unfortunately as the music only lasts only 2mins which is not enough therefore I am now in process on finding music for our Video!
