My magazine advert plans.

I've put together some ideas of what i was thinking about how to create a magazine advert. So that i know exactly what i want, i've made a temporary magazine advert.
I haven't yet discussed this with my partner however i will make give some justification to why this magazine advert should look likes this.

3/01/2012 Since me and my partner have now looked the temporary magazine advert and discussed it i am now ready to give justifications to why i believe why certain things are included in such ways.

Reasons for the colour black and white:

You may have noticed that many magazine adverts are full of bright colourful colours that is used to attract the audience. Black and White are rarely used, thus to be able to make our magazine advert appealing we are going to make use of these colours. We want this advert to stand out from those bright colours and make people wonder why is it made use of such basic colours.  For me personally, Black and white brings out different vibe and moods.

The Scan code at the side?:

I want to make use of the scan code as we have millions and millions of people using blackberry and since i own a blackberry thus i am aware of the fact that there is an app which scans bar codes as shown and it gives you opportunity to shop online etc... I am thinking of perhaps letting the scan code so that the readers can get an opportunity to access information on that particular album on their phones. 

The website:

Websites are found regularly on magazine adverts therefore we also made use of it. At the top we are going to write "win concert tickets" or something along that kind of idea so that we can gain publicity for  our music video. It also allows the audience to get on the site and access more information on it.

The quote from the actual lyrics:

If you notice, there is a quote in red that actually is part of the music's lyrics. This is the actual lyrics we are going to use in the REAL magazine advert because this is what the music video is about. It is very important for us to get the message across to the audience so that they know exactly what they're watching. This is the only part in RED colour because i wanted it to stand out from the black and white so it's one of the first thing the reader will notice. Red also symbolises love,romance and this music video is about this which is why this colour is there.

HMV and Itunes:

HMV and Itunes are both equally important to the music world therefore, I would like to include these on my actual magazine advert. HMV and Itunes is where the sales of music available for everyone and it's a platform for profit for the music industry. Therefore it is important to let the readers know where it will be available to purchase.

The Magazine advert headline:

The headline is 'Stargazer' which is the name of the album and single. I have stars dropping from the sides to imply that it is shooting stars. Reason for this is because this male in this music video is a dreamer. He dreams big! And he works equally hard to get where he wants but of course his personal life gets neglected in this process.  I am not sure about the colour as it's not very appealing. But since it's nt the original i still have time to think twice and carefully about my use of colours and be able to give justifications. 

Research- Alike Magazine Adverts.

Like with the digipak we've also started planning our magazine advert. Our aim is to find a simple but attention seeking cover as it should instantly attract our audience.
We've looked up some magazine advert and one that really appealed to us was Michael Jackson's 'HOLD MY HAND' cover. It is very simple. Since my music video is about the couple. We can also have a scene with the two holding hands and this could act as our cover.

Student work - Magazine advert.

This is a magazine advert i found whilst on the internet searching for ideas for my music magazine advert. This seems like a student's work, Personally I am a fan of basic colours that stand out and catches your attention. This was pretty catchy because my main prop of my music video is a guitar. The fact that there is a guitar on the front page attracts me.
It is also attractive as it's not packed with lots of information, just vital informations that the audience must know.

Rihanna Album Release Advert.

Rihanna's new album russian roulette was released in late 2009. Her magazine advert attracted me because the red stood out from the black and white colours. The way the writing is set out is also appealing as in most magazine advert the writing is straight. Though the songs in her albums are usually fun and joyful, this one looks serious. The way she is looking straight into the camera with one hand hiding her eye shows that she probably has a serious message to convey through her album this time. R n B is Rihanna's forte, but if you look at the 'R' on the side it looks slanted and is a font usually used by rock artists for their style of music. This could imply the fact that Rihanna wants her audience to look at her in a more serious way.

Stargazer by Arjun- Behind the scenes part 1

As promised! 
So we've been working on our behind the scenes video for weeks and FINALLY it's here. This is only the first part as we're still filming bits for the music video thus we'll have a second part with everything in there!


Pretty funny and absolutely crazy but this was definitely a good experience of having the opportunity to create a music video!

Alike Digipak.

Since we are still in the process of editing the music video, we've started making the digipak and we're looking at other digipak to get ideas.

We've found a digipak the exact way we wanted ours and the same kind of genre though of course there will be things different.

Feeder- The Singles

This is a digipak i found using google images. I found this interesting as this is the kind of idea for our digipak me and my partner had in mind. Black and White for me is pretty appealing because it stands out amongst bright colours. I understand that this digipak has 4 slides however our digipak consist of 6 which is hard but im am sure we can find plenty of justified and reasonable ideas of what to include. 

My Male character's main prop is his guitar and this digipak provides me of ideas of what i can include on them.

I am pretty glad i found this digipak, it seems like like a student's work. This is exactly what i had intended mine to look like except it will be more romantic. 

Black and white colors for me stand out and using a bit of the red makes it more appealing to the audience. 

I like the fact that it is a simple image and not too much going on in there, this is similar to what i wanted to include on my digipak.

Treatment Sheet- Justification of ideas in relation to genre and artist.

By listening to the song itself you can figure out that this is a romantic song. "Star gazer" makes me think of a guy sitting outside on his car playing his guitar while gazing at the stars.

The guitar: It is almost like a romantic prop in this music video, the importance of this guitar is shown throughout as this is the identity of the main actor.

Candles: These are also romantic, almost symbolises the light and purity of love. The fact that there light in someone life could imply that they have a bright future.

Car: as you might have noticed in many romantic music video, you usually find cars where you see couples spending time in car.

Filming Timetable!

As you know that this time of the year can be very busy for us students with exams awaiting and university matters to handle which often makes us students frightened that we will not be able to give our best thus in order to avoid hectic situations, we've created a timetable which will help us be organised as it will help us identify who is doing what, where and what time and what other props have to be brought.

While planning, we imagined the whole music video infront of us and we found out that we need to film at 5 locations in order to have a succesful media product. Therefore we planned the timetable according to those five filming locations.

Storyboard

Better late than never! - We've finally been able to upload our story board that has been pending for long!

This story board consists of ideas that me and my partner have come up together with so that our media product is created. Each frame consists of scene we'll like to include in our product, it has a rough idea of it's duration, what kind of shot we are likely to use and also some extra notes that will help us.

The Animatic for Music Video and it's process.

Using our storyboard we are to create an Animatic explaining the steps we are going to take to create this music video. With Reference to Camera angles and notes.

To create this Animatic I've used Windows movie maker as i made it from home therefore that was the only facility available.

Firstly I dragged the pictures and music onto the timeline and then edited it. I also included a front title slide so that people know exactly what they're watching.
