Digipack Ideas

This is a picture that we may use as our digipak front cover as our album will be called 'STARGAZER'  as the song is called that too. I think that will be perfect as we need a picture of the actor gazing at the star, here it's not exactly gazing at the star but it was something like this that we needed.

Another Picture:

After looking at the Script's digipak, we are thinking that our digipak will include a picture cut from one of the scene of our music video to show "holding hands" which implies the fact the couple in my music video are in love.

Day 2 Filming- The Date Scene!

Since there is a rap scene that last around 1minute long, we had to have a different scene that is related to our main music video story for which we needed a new actor that could keep up with rapping. We made it as "THE DATE SCENE!" Since this was a last minute thought, we contacted our friend 'Brigitta' who had not only kindly accepted to play the girl role but also found a boy for us. It was pretty hesitating at first as I wasn't sure if he'll be able to handle such a fast rap as he isn't the kind to rap. But Thank our luck, He did it! Perfectly!
I wasn't there while this was shot as i couldn't make it due to a personal reason but my partner was ver c co-operative and did an excellent job in my absence...I was took by surprise when he gave that shot as it was realistic! Feedback from my partner shows that this filming was also a success. This scene is very natural and sweet which is what our music video is about!
Some pictures were also taken to show the Behind the Scene Fun!

BEHIND THE SCENES!

Day 1 Filming- The Park Scene.

On Saturday, We done our first filming for our music video! I am really happy to inform you that it was absolutely great! Unfortunately it took us a lot of time to find actors as many said yes first but when it came to the filming they just let us down... But 'Reece' our main actor and also a performing art student as well as a good friend was there to help us at the very last minute by kindly agreeing to play a big part on our music video. I was impressed as i was only able to send him the song and the lyrics the night before and he learnt it all overnight!
On the filming day, the weather was in our favour, windy but a little sunny which was a relief and we asked Reece to bring his guitar which was our main prop and the fact that he is a guitarist was good for us since it would look realistic that he is playing the guitar. We had 3 takes for the first bit where walks down the park along the trees playing his guitar. This bit a reference to postmodernism, as our scene itself is a reference to 'Miley Cyrus's Climb'. Our Second shot was also around the park but near a bush where he gazes and plays his guitar in 'thought of his girlfriend''. This was a one take shot!

Finally I was very pleased with that filming as there was a lot of effort from us as we had trouble searching the actor and Reece contributed in the effort as he learnt such a long song in such a little time!

Student Magazine Analysis

Colour:
The colour used it simple and it grabs our attention because these days, designers think that bigger, bolder and brighter is better and this grabs our attention because its dull and it looks like there wasn't that much effort in the design which makes us think "why isn't trying to grab my attention" truth be told I'm most likely to download the album to see my its so special.

Text:
The text is simple and it matches the type of songs in the album because its nice, simple and relaxing.

Image:
The student has included the image of a withered tree, this simple image grabs the attention of the audience and makes them wonder what is the purpose of a that tree? We found out that this image was taken from the original music video
by the student.

Detailed Outline of Ideas!

Me and my partner have decided on ideas and we also wrote done why we need it so we know exactly what we're doing.

Audience Research via survey monkey!

At the moment, I have posted my artist's music on Facebook along with a survey from survey monkey. In the survey i have asked some question based on our choice of the music.
  • Now that you've listened to the music, what do you think of it?
  • On a Scale of 5, how would you rate it?
  • Personally, would you consider this music video if you were making this music video?
  • If you were making this music video based on this song, what would your music video be like? As in the story itself?
This is  really important for us at the moment since mine and my partners ideas are totally different and therefore some suggestions will help us to make our mind up since we really need to get filming or else we're going to be behind which is the last thing we want right now.!

Here's a screen grab of of the survey monkey while it was being prepared.

This a screengrab of me posting the survey to facebook!

This is now on Facebook on my t and people have started taking the survey... I will soon be able to have all the results in.

These are the results I've obtained from 18 people.

As you can see from above, these are the results unfortunately we couldn't do analyse it on a chart as i was using the basic version of survey monkey.
From what I've learnt from the survey is that the majority of the audience have appreciated the song by this unknown unsigned artist. And many have given it a rating of 4/5 which implies that this is a good song choice. The majority of my audience was ranged from 17 till about 40 and most of the 17-20 year old seemed to have appreciated the music more than an older person will. I've had one negative review which explains that although there is a majority of 17+ that likes the music, not everyone has the same taste in music.

The Process of creating a music video.

Student video analysis.

'The vixen's music video"

Here is the music video of the vixens as promised, and I am now going to have a look at it and also analysis it so that I get an idea of how this whole thing works.

Their music video doesn't really has the best song yet I seem to like it because i like the way they have used done their editing, It goes with the pace of the song and it is very creative. I like the 4 frames where you can see the four girls and they are doing their dance in their frame. Another good thing about the editing is that the background colour keeps changing and this is almost fascinating because we have never done this. This also gives us a good idea of how we should edit our music video according to the song.

Student Digipak Analysis

"Glam Punch by the Vixens"

At the moment we are looking at past student's digipak as we have to make our own too therefore this helps us by giving us ideas of what else could be improved and how we could do better than them. These pictures below are of a student's digipak, I will soon post their music video to see how this digipak relates to it.

This colours of the digipak is very feminine and it shows that the student has thought well of who their target audience is. On the back of the cover where you find the list of the songs, is a scene grab from their actual music video. i find this pretty clever because they have been creative and natural and It shows that it is a digipak of their OWN album. You can also see the effort and hard work they've put behind this, if you notice the black and white scribble cover with colourful writing, this was hand made. This shows that you don't just have to find a picture and stick it on as a cover but you can be creative and come up with the own so people can appreciate it! The name 'Glam Punch' itself makes any girl want to know what this is about because Glam is feminine and girls loves glamourous.
However i think that the white background looks left out as it's bright and it just stands out (the cover with the girls)  but if you compare that to the other side of the cover where the background is dark blue, that looks more realistic and they are also missing a disk impressing to show where the CD will go.
Personally I think that this is not great but it is a good example of digipak and it really helps me with my do's and don'ts.
